Bigadiç Museum and Culture House
It is a special building that was built for the Monopoly Administration after the 1942 Bigadiç earthquake and is considered among the examples of the Rational-Functional Architecture Movement between 1930-1940. In accordance with its architectural plans, it was reorganized with the contributions of the Istanbul Directorate of Surveying and Monuments and with the possibilities of the Municipality, and turned into a museum and cultural house. In the museum: a) “Kuvâ-yi Milliye Section” related to Balıkesir's Bigadiç column, which has a special place in the “Kuvâ-yi Milliye Movement”; b) Department of Archeology; The ruins of the ancient settlement, which is 18 km away from the city center of Ankara; c) Ethnography Department; There are elements of daily life in the last 200-300 years. In addition, meetings, seminars, etc., with an area of 96 m2 for 90 people, as well as pictures, photographs, etc. There is a multi-purpose hall suitable for exhibitions. The museum opened on December 1, 2001.
