Bitlis Şerefiye Mosque
It is a complex that was established in the south of the city center, at the junction of the barracks and Hosor streams, and consists of a mosque, madrasah, soup kitchen, and tomb. According to its inscription, IV. It was built by Şeref Han. Since the façade of the mosque, which has a rectangular plan in the east-west direction, is the eastern side, which can be seen from the city, it was desired to give this face a monumental value and was prepared with a separate decoration. The ornamentation on its minaret, the motif and composition in its mihrab are remarkable. The narthex, which covers the north of the mosque, opens to the courtyard with five pointed arches based on four cylindrical columns. Arches were placed on the northern walls of the mosque from the columns, and the square sections thus formed were covered with a dome. The mihrab is in the form of a half-arched niche. The windows and the crown door were made during the Ottoman Period.
