Büklükale Archaeological Site

The aim of the archaeological studies in Büklükale in the Karakeçili District is the BC. The 2nd millennium is the search for a regional city, especially in the Hittite Imperial Age, and filling the gap in the Central Anatolian chronology found in Kaman - Kalehöyük.

As a result of the excavations, six cultural layers were identified. Ottoman Period on the 1st floor, Hellenistic Age on the 2nd floor, Iron Age (1st millennium BC) on the 3rd floor, Late Bronze Age Hittite Imperial Age on the 4th floor (second half of the 2nd millennium BC), 5. There are Assyrian Trade Colonies Age on the floor and the Old Bronze Age culture layers on the 6th floor.

During the excavation, which has continued since 2009, metal, terracotta, stone and bone artifacts, tablet fragments, a city gate with a chest-type tower, numerous bowls and teapots, and architectural remains from the Hittite Imperial Age were unearthed.
