Captain Agah Efendi Cemetery
It is in the Büyük Kalecik Town of Afyonkarahisar province's central district. Afyonkarahisar city center is 12 kilometers away. On the 2nd day of the Great Offensive, on 27 August 1922, the 24 year old 12th Division, which was tasked with taking the Kalecik and Kurtkaya regions, which was the only gateway to Kocatepe, where the headquarters of the Commander-in-Chief was located, with the 2,500-strong enemy division, which was much stronger than them. Captain Agâh Efendi, son of Ziver Bey from Bayburt, the 6th Division Commander of the Infantry Regiment, plunged into the enemy forces with 150 Mehmetçik under his command and First Lieutenant Feyzullah from Sinop, and after inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, he was martyred along with Feyzullah Efendi and 101 Mehmetçik. The martyrdom, which was built in the name of these heroes, was first built by the Ministry of National Defense on August 26, 1972. Later, in 1993, the graves of martyrs, a monument, ceremonial area, passageways were built by the Ministry of Culture, and the tombs of Ağâh and Feyzullah Efendi were covered with an arched dome in the style of Seljuk Architecture, giving the martyrdom an appearance worthy of its spiritual value. In addition, a fountain was built in front of the wall facing the road and presented to passers-by.
