Ceneviz Castle And Seaside Beach

The Genoese Castle was built on a cliff located between two bays, 2.5 kilometers west of Düzce Akçakoca District. To the south of the castle, in the east and west directions, there is a high tower in the middle of the walls and a water cistern in the inner courtyard. The bricks and mortar used in the castle show similarities with the bricks and mortar used in other Genoese Castles. The Genoese Castle and its surroundings, which have survived from the Hellenistic, Roman and Eastern Roman periods, have been registered as an archaeological and natural protected area with the decision of the Ankara Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation Board. It has inscribed its name on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List with the name of "Walled Settlements". The Genoese castle is one of the rare centers in the region where it offers the aesthetics of history and nature together with its location above the sea and at the seaside. It has two separate blue flag beaches to the east and west. One of the beaches, called Yalıyarlar, is known as seal reefs because it contains caves along the coast and attracts attention. Besides its insatiable beaches and historical texture, the Ceneviz Castle is the most preferred picnic and recreation area of Akçakoca. You can have a picnic in the historical castle by watching the magnificent view and enjoy the sea and sand.
