Çınarlı Mosque

Çınarlı Mosque was completed shortly after the death of Ayvalık Priest Ikonomos in 1793 and was built by craftsmen from Ayvalık. The building was converted into a mosque in 1923. It was named Çınarlı Mosque because of the plane tree in its garden. The building has a rectangular plan extending in the east-west direction, the ground floor is basilical, and the upper cover is closed in terms of a Greek cross plan. It has three apses to the east, round on the inside and three facades on the outside. There are pastaphorium rooms on both sides. In the west, there is a narthex that projects to the north and south. These protruding spaces are the stairs that lead to the gallery floor, and the narthex is covered with a north-south barrel vault. Naos and bema are separated by an iconastasis. An entrance opening to the Dioconikon was opened from the south. The east-west, north-south cross arms are covered with barrel vaults. Other units are covered with cross vaults. The entrance to the naos is provided through three entrance openings from the west and one entrance from the north and south.
