Cıngırt Castle
'Cıngırt Fortress' is located within the borders of Yapraklı Village, 5 kilometers away from Fatsa. Literature studies show that stepped tunnels that can safely reach water in the form of tunnels carved into single or multiple rocks between 301-63 BC are characteristic for this type of castle settlements. It is a 1st degree archaeological site. A rescue excavation was carried out in Cıngırt Castle between July 27 and August 26, 2012 by a team of 8 experts under the supervision of Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Erol, a faculty member of Gazi University, under the direction of the museum directorate.
