Değle Ruins
In the Değle Ruins, which is located on the volcanic mountain Karadağ, in the north of Karaman, the remains of some structures belonging to the Byzantine Period can be seen. Here, there are places that can give an idea about the Byzantine Period residential architecture. Although the houses were built more simply and carelessly than religious buildings, they were built with two or three rooms, depending on the need. There are rock tombs, tomb covers and chamber tombs built with hewn stone, with pyramidal covers, on the eastern slopes of the hill. There is also an altar here that dates back to before the Byzantine Period. The altar was converted into a rock tomb during the Byzantine Period. There is a relief scene on the eastern face of this large rock block. In the front, a man is holding a bowl with his left hand and scattering seeds with his right.
