Dolishane Church
It is located in Hamamlı Village of the Merkez District. From the Berta Bridge location of the Artvin-Şavşat highway, it is reached by a 6-kilometer road in the northwest direction. According to its inscription, it was built by X. Bagratlı King Sumbath. XVI. Only the church has survived from the monastery, which was used as a mosque in the 19th century. According to the inscriptions found in the church, the monastery was built by the architect Gabriel by Sumbath, who was a king in Tao-Klardjethie of the Iberian Kingdom between 954-958. XIV. The building, which continued its activities as a monastery until the XVI century. It was converted into a mosque in the 19th century. In 1958, it was partially repaired and took its final shape. There are two inscriptions that have survived to the present day. The building, which was built as a monastery, only has a church today. The building is rectangular in the east-west direction, measuring 20.20x13.20 meters from the outside; on the inside, it has a free cross plan. The building has survived to the present day in a way that can be said to be intact. On the east façade of the church are the pastoforion rooms and the surfaces of the apse. The apse with a triangular pediment has a round-arched and rectangular window on the axis of its façade. The western façade consists of the western cross arm and additional spaces on both sides. The façade, which has mostly collapsed, has a triangular pediment and has damaged doors and windows in its middle axis. As for the northern façade, this façade consists of the northern cross arm, prothesis and side space surfaces. Pastoforion rooms with double chamfered cross arms and the spaces on the sides are covered with single chamfered roofs.
