Edirne Balkan Martyrdom
Edirne Balkan Martyrs Cemetery was built in Edirne Sarayiçi to keep alive the cherished memories of 20,000 military-civilian martyrs who were captured by the Bulgarians during the Balkan War (1912-13) and were sentenced to death by starvation in Edirne Sarayiçi, and was opened to the public with a ceremony on 14 January 1994. The names of 100 officers and 400 privates are written on 12 blocks in the cemetery.
