Emet Cevizdere Cemetery

This Martyrdom was built on September 3, 1922, in Cevizderesi under the command of Rauf Captain, for the sake of his homeland, in 1985, in memory of the martyrs and veterans who inflicted heavy losses on the Greek soldiers. Emet was occupied by the Greeks on August 14, 1921, and the Greek army set up its headquarters in the government building. Emetli Kuva-yi Milliyeciler raided this headquarters one night to get rid of the Greeks. Hearing of this raid, the Greek unit in Tavşanlı sends a battalion of soldiers to Emet. Knowing this situation, the people set up an ambush in the Cevizderesi Strait with a force of 80-100 people. The Greek battalion passing through this strait, which has slopes on both sides, was caught between two fires when the villagers of Günlüce cut the way to the retreat. The fire was so sudden and effective that the enemy did not even have a chance to lower their machine guns from the back of the mule and set them up. Only 20-25 people from the Greek battalion survived. The veterans who returned to Emet later withdrew to the mountains with the people. The enemy, who wanted to avenge this raid, entered Emet with the troops he brought from Kütahya and Tavşanlı and destroyed Emet so that there was not a single house left for revenge.
