Erzurum Clock Tower
Another structure that has become one of the symbols of Erzurum is the Erzurum Clock Tower. The tower, which is also known as Tepsi Minare and Kesik Kule, was first built as the minaret of the castle mosque built in Erzurum Castle. As a result of the occupations in the following period, this minaret began to be used as a watchtower. In the 19th century, the clock and bell were placed on the tower and the structure took its present form. Erzurum Clock Tower stands out as one of the earliest Turkish-Islamic structures in Anatolia. It is known that the clock in the Erzurum Clock Tower, which is in a position dominating many points of the city, was made in London in 1877 and was given as a gift by the British.
