Erzurum Grand Mosque

Erzurum Ulu Mosque, one of the most important architectural works in Anatolia, also stands out as the oldest and largest mosque in Erzurum. Located in Yakutiye district, the mosque is close to the Double Minaret Madrasa. Erzurum Ulu Mosque, also known as Atabey Mosque, was built in 1179 by Nasiruddin Muhammed from Saltukoğulları. The only part of the mosque that has survived to the present day in its original form is the qibla wall. The remaining areas were renewed and changed from time to time. Erzurum Ulu Mosque is also seen as an important artifact, as it is one of the few mosques remaining from the Saltuks.
