Eynesil Castle
The castle was taken under protection with the decision of Trabzon Cultural and Natural Heritage Conservation Board dated 23.12.1994 and numbered 2124. There is no academic source that provides information about the construction date and the builder of Eynesil Castle, which is located on a rocky peninsula 2 kilometers east of Eynesil District. Current sources indicate that Eynesil Castle, which meets the blue of the sea, dates back to the Romans. The castle was partially restored with the works completed in 2001.
The east-west wall in the center of the castle divides the castle into two. In the middle of the wall there is an opening of about two meters that gives access to the castle section on the sea side of the castle. There is a water cistern in the castle and old sources mention that there is also a church in the castle. According to these sources, the church overlooks the rocks on the east side of the open area in the middle. However, today there is no trace of this church. The historical castle, which has been restored to its original appearance with the restoration work carried out in previous years, welcomes its visitors with its old appearance today.
