Ferhatli Castle

It is said that the legend of Ferhat and Şirin is mentioned in this castle, which is located in Ferhatlı (Ahiza) Village, 5 kilometers west of Ardanuç. The building, which has no inscription, was repaired by the Iberian King Vahtang Gorgasal on the same date as the Ardanuç Fortress in the 5th century and has survived to the present day. There was no significant finding before and after. The structure was built on the bedrock rising parallel to the valley, on the edge of the Ardanuç water, before going up to the Ardanuç District. Evliya Çelebi refers to this place as "Battle Castle" in his travel book. Some walls are still standing. It was built using rubble stone. It has survived to the present day in ruins.
