Goat Fountain
Kazlıçeşme is the largest neighborhood in terms of area in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul province.
It is one of Istanbul's oldest neighborhoods outside the city walls. It takes its name from a marble fountain dating back to the 16th century, featuring a carved goose figure.
Since the conquest of Istanbul, the neighborhood has been home to leather production, with numerous leather workshops using traditional production techniques, a small number of modern leather factories, as well as facilities belonging to the cement, textile, and iron casting industries. The neighborhood remained a slum area for a long time after the factories closed in the 1990s. After the 2005 local government reforms, urban development activities took place in the neighborhood. Kazlıçeşme is an area of approximately 170,000 square meters, stretching from the Byzantine walls and Yedikule Dungeons in the east to the Zeytinburnu Municipality building and Zeytinburnu Station in the west. The old Sirkeci Suburb passes through its north. To the south, it is surrounded by Sahilyolu and the Sea of Marmara.
The Kazlıçeşme neighborhood borders a total of seven neighborhoods in the district. Demirhane Street, which runs from the walls towards Zeytinburnu Train Station, divides the neighborhood into two large areas.
