Gözetleme Tepe Martyrdom
The martyrdom, located on the left side of the Alçıtepe-Kabatepe road, 4.5 km north of the Alçıtepe village and 2 km south of the Kum Port, started to be called Gözetleme Tepe in the later period. It is a martyrdom that was built on 29 August 1939 in memory of our soldiers who were martyred while they were doing their watching duty, on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Saros. However, although the relationship of this martyrdom with the Battle of Çanakkale is not clear; It is stated that 408 of our soldiers were martyred here, and there are 3 graves with unknown identities in the martyrdom. On the monument are the phrases "Türküm, ne mutlu Türküm diyene / Ölürüm, yan baktırmam Türk Eline / Ben, Türküm, güvenirim süngüme, gücüme, / Daha olmazsa, ruhumla şahlanırım üzerine.".
