The mosque is thought to have been built on the foundation of an ancient temple. It was built in a structure with a single minaret. Habib-ii Neccar Mosque also has an interesting story like St. Simeon Monastery; The two apostles who came to Antioch from Jerusalem to spread Christianity are murdered by the people on the grounds that they brought unrest to the city. Habib-ün Neccar, who learned about this event, leaves his workshop on the mountain and goes to the city and says that he supports the apostles and that the people should accept the Christian faith. Habib-ün Neccar shares the same fate as the apostles. After the Muslims conquered Antakya, they built a mosque here in memory of Habib-ün Neccar.
