Hacı Adil Bey Fountain
The structure, which was built by Hacı Adil Bey, one of the Governors of Edirne, in memory of his son, who died at a young age, in 1904, and which is the best preserved fountain in the city center today, is placed on a plan base with 3 steps. The building, which sits on a square-shaped mass, is 5.20 meters high and 4.75 meters wide. All facades of the fountain are the same in terms of facade composition. The project of the fountain in Baroque style was drawn by the Director of Edirne Evkaf, Sadrettin Bey and Dr.Rıfat Osman. In some sources, there is a couplet belonging to the Üsküdar poet Alaaddin on the wall of this fountain; however, he states that it was probably destroyed during the Greek occupation. In the years when the fountain was built, a branch of the Karaağaç Train Station used to come up to the head of the Meriç Bridge, called the Station Square, and next to the Hacı Adil Fountain. The fountain, which was built under the leadership of Hacı Adil Bey and with his financial contributions, is therefore known as the Hacı Adil Bey Fountain, but it is also known as the Meriç or Köprübaşı fountain among the people. Hacı Adil, who was the governor of Edirne twice, was called "Hacıbaba" among the people. The grave of the martyr's son is in the Selimiye Mosque Cemetery.
