Haci Ömer Mosque

Historical Mosque / Turkiye, Black Sea, Sinop

Haci Ömer Mosque

It is in the shipyard area. It was rebuilt in 1903 by the notable Hacı Çerkez Ömer Efendi. Previously, there was a wooden mosque known as İsmail Ağa Customs Mosque in its place. Although it is rumored that the first builder of this wooden mosque was Mehmet Ağa, son of Karpuzcu, the date of its construction is unknown. It is possible that the founder of Kaleyazısı Mosque was also a benefactor named Mehmed Ağa, and it was the same person who built this wooden mosque. It is thought that the mosque serves the worship needs of the workers at the Sinop shipyard.
