Hagia Nikola Turkish Orthodox Church

Hagia Nikola Turkish Orthodox Church is a Turkish Orthodox church located in the Karaköy district of the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey. The church, which dates back to the 16th century, has gone through many fires and repairs throughout its history. According to its inscription, today's building was built in 1804. Due to the Greek Genocide and the population exchange problem, the church's congregation shrank and the number of Christian visitors decreased. The church was confiscated by the order of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1924, and the Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchate initiated a legal process for the return of the church in 2011.
