Han Mosque

Located in Çorum Gülabibey District, the mosque is named in three ways as Gülabibey Mosque, Han Mosque and Ömer Neftçi Mosque. Dating to the Early Ottoman Period, the mosque was built by Gülabibey, one of the Çorum Beys, and was repaired in 1579. It is thought that the inscription in the form of “Han Mosque 0310” located above the door in the middle part of the narthex portico of the mosque was placed here, most probably during the repair done by Ömer Nehci Efendi. The rectangular planned mosque consists of a single-domed harim and a narthex with three arches in the north. The narthex has three arches, the middle part is covered with a mirrored vault and the two sides are covered with a dome. From the narthex, there is a square-planned harem with a low-arched, double-winged wooden door. The harim is covered with a large dome, and the dome is accessed by squinches with pointed arches. The lower windows of the building are stone-framed, flat-pillared, rectangular-shaped, with iron railings, and the upper windows are rectangular-shaped, with round-arched wooden grids. The minaret is located in the northwest corner of the sanctuary, and spolia was used along with uneven large cut stones on its base, and bricks were used in the other parts. The shoe and the bracelet at the beginning of the body are made of stone and covered with a cone.
