Harran Domed Houses

Dome house (Beehive House), a dome-shaped house with a stone roof. Mud brick and stone are used in the construction of the house. Harran houses are examples of domed houses. The purpose of the domes is to collect the hot air in the dome in the extremely hot region in summer and to allow it to come out from the space at the top. The houses are without glass, with thick walls and conical domes. Round structures called Tholos in architecture are found in Mesopotamia, around the Mediterranean, eastern Anatolia and the Caucasus. Houses with names such as domed, conical, cupola and conical are called Beehive house (Beehive) in Scotland. In the world apart from Suruç and Harran; Domed houses are found in Tbilisi, Mosul, Cyprus, Alberello and Puglia (Italy), Spain, Scotland, Peru, Afghanistan, China and Iran.
