Hasan Ağa Mansion

Çakıroğlu Hasan Ağa Mansion is a historic residence located in the Kıyıcık neighborhood of Of district in Trabzon. Built in the mid-19th century, the mansion is an important example of traditional Black Sea domestic architecture and reflects the craftsmanship of the Ottoman period.

The structure has a square plan and consists of two floors. The ground floor is constructed from cut stone, providing durability and strength, while the upper floor features wooden structural elements filled with stone, a characteristic building technique of the region. The fireplace section is also built with stone, emphasizing both function and structural stability.

The roof is covered with corrugated roof tiles, and the wide eaves extend outward to protect the building from the region’s heavy rainfall. Beneath the eaves, simple geometric patterns add modest decorative detail to the exterior.

Each façade includes a wooden entrance door, while the western façade uniquely contains two doors. The interior of the mansion is predominantly wooden, reflecting the traditional craftsmanship and warm aesthetic typical of Black Sea houses.

Çakıroğlu Hasan Ağa Mansion stands as a valuable cultural heritage structure, representing the architectural traditions, local lifestyle, and historical identity of Trabzon’s Of district. It remains an important site for visitors interested in regional history and traditional Ottoman-era residential architecture.
