Hasbey Turkish Bath

There is an ancient double bath in the northwest of the Tavus Baba Tomb, on the southern slope of the historical stone bridge over Meram Stream in the Yorgancı District in the Meram Bağları district. It is popularly known as Meram Hamam. It was built in 1424 by a philanthropist named Hacı Hasbeyoğlu Mehmet, during the reign of İbrahim Bey. Meram Bath, which is one of the works of the Principalities period, is also known as Hasbey Bath due to its patron.

The building, which was registered as a cultural and natural property in 1982, is now operated by a commercial establishment as a family resting place. Hasbey Bath consists of two separate sections for men and women with similar characteristics in the east-west direction. This double bath, whose plan is quite simple but remarkable, consists of cold, warm and hot sections. The motifs on the marble pediment of the original elegant door and the two bird figures wrapped around each other in the middle of the stone arch and the coat of arms grasping two upside down fish are among the details that attract attention.

It is rumored that the bath, which takes its water from the Meram Stream next to it, was once an epic beauty. You can touch the experiences of the years by visiting the Meram Bath, which is one of the places frequented by the tourists coming to Meram.
