Hatay Great Mosque

Ulu Mosque, located in the town center of Antakya, is thought to have been built in 1271. The mosque, whose exact date of construction is unknown, is one of the oldest historical buildings in the city. The mosque, which went through various repair works in 1986 and 2000, is among the structures that preserve its existence today and reflect the historical texture of Antakya. The complex, which is thought to have been built by the Mamluk Sultan Baybars I, includes a madrasa, a summer mosque, a fountain, two tombs, a fountain, a soup kitchen and various shops. In particular, the magnificent stone and woodwork of the mosque attracts attention. Since it is the largest and oldest among the mosques of Antakya, this place is among the must-see places for those who love to visit spiritual places.
