Hıdırlık Bastion

The construction of the first fortification (all kinds of structures built on the land for defense purposes) in Edirne was started under the supervision of the Divan-ı Hümayun translator, Hoca İshak Efendi, against the Russian occupation in 1829. One of the most important of these built structures is the Hıdırlık Bastion, which was also used in the First Balkan War. Hıdırlık Bastion is the largest bastion in Edirne with its circumference of approximately 1800 meters. Bastion: It consists of Nizamiye Main Entrance Building, Ward Building, Artillery Rooms, Artillery Batteries (Cannon Post), Trench and Courtyard.
