Historical Talazan Bridge
Talazan Bridge is a bridge over Kelkit Stream, 15 km from Niksar district of Tokat province. Talazan literally means solid, reliable. It is on the Kelkit Stream on the village road that connects the Buzköy village of Niksar to the Erbaa-Reşadiye road. It is 1.5 km from the Erbaa-Reşadiye road. Although the date of construction is not certain since its inscription has not survived, it is estimated that it was built in the first half of the 13th century, based on the building style and some sources. The bridge is made of cut and rubble stone and has 8 openings consisting of pointed arches. It is 147 meters long, 10 meters wide and 9 meters high. It is understood that it was repaired at different times due to the difference in the stonework between the masonry. After the biggest arch in the middle of the bridge collapsed in earthquakes, this span was combined with steel beams and continued to be used. The bridge, which has the status of a registered historical monument, was restored and taken under protection with the restoration work carried out by the 7th Regional Directorate of Highways between 2010 and 2012.
