Hitit Sculpture Workshop

Worked and semi-worked basalt stones were found, which indicates that the rocky area with a lion statue, located approximately 500 meters north of the Karakız Municipality service building, was used as a sculpture workshop during the Hittite Period. A 2 meter diameter carved water cistern and semi-processed basalt stones were found in Kazankaya Mevkii, which is located approximately 1 kilometer south of the Karakız-Kadışehri road, passing through the Karakız Municipality.
