Imam Abdullah Shrine

Imam Abdullah Zaviyesi, located on the hill on the left at the entrance to Hasankeyf Bridge, is located in the middle of a cemetery cluster overlooking the Tigris River from the North. Imam Abdullah M.S. He served as the right-hand man of Iyaz Bin Ganem, the famous commander of Halid Bin Velid, in the last Islamic raids organized in 638 to save Hasankeyf Castle from the six-hundred-year Byzantine domination, and was martyred during the siege of Hasankeyf on that date. Hz. Imam Abdullah, the son of Caferi Tayyar, the son of Muhammad's uncle, is a revered person from the Prophet's generation and an exceptional Veliyullah. Because of this feature, his tomb has been respected in every era as a zawiya and has been repaired many times from the Ayyubid period to the last period of the Ottomans and has reached the present day with little destruction. There is a square-planned tower at the right corner of the Imam Abdullah tomb, which was built in a square plan in a rectangular courtyard, and a long rectangular masjid to the south of the tomb. The fineness of the realm in the wood carvings of the door wings of the barrel vaulted entrance between the tomb and the tower and the dome of the tomb bears the characteristics of 14th century artistic taste. This gate, which has a high artistic value, is under protection in the Diyarbakır Museum. Registered by the Ministry of Culture, Imam Abdullah Zaviyesi is commemorated by Hasankeyf and the local villagers every year in the first week of June, and wishes are made around the tomb during the week.
