İplik Pazarı Mosque

Historical Mosque / Cyprus

İplik Pazarı Mosque

The building is dated to the 19th century. The first construction was financed by Hacı Ahmed Ağa, the last governor of Cyprus, who was the governor of Cyprus in the early 19th century and held the title of the last bookkeeper of the pre-Tanzimat era. An inscription in the mosque from 1826 details the support of the governor of Cyprus. In its early days, the mosque was also known by the name "Muhassil Haji Ahmed Aga Mosque". This building was renovated in 1898 with the support of Muhammed Sadık Bey, who was a member of the board of directors of the foundation during the British period, to form the current mosque. This work was done to increase the capacity of the mosque.
