İzmir State Opera and Ballet Alhambra Stage
Alhambra Cinema (İzmir National Cinema or Milli Cinema) is a historical cinema located in the National Library Street in Konak district of İzmir. The cinema was established to provide financial resources to the Izmir National Library, which was established in 1912. The architect of the cinema, which was opened in 1926, is Architect Tahsin Sermet Bey, one of the pioneers of Neo-Classical Turkish architecture. The world's first sound film The Jazz Singer was screened for the first time in this hall in İzmir. The building was rented and restored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey in 1980 for the Izmir State Opera and Ballet. It is still used as the İzmir State Opera and Ballet Alhambra Stage.
