Iznik Walls

The walls, which were started to be built in the Bithynia Period (4th century BC), took their present form with new additions in the Roman and Byzantine periods. The five-sided polygonal walls surrounding Iznik are approximately 4,970 meters long. There are 114 round and square bastions on the walls, whose height varies between 10-13 meters. When viewed from the intersection of the two main streets of Iznik, four main gates are visible.
