Kahraman Celal Baba Tomb
According to popular belief, Celal Baba is a dervish living in Kars. Mongols invade Kars. Celal Baba also joins the fighters against the Mongol invasion. During the war, his head was cut off with a sword blow. Celal Baba, who caught his severed head with one hand before it fell to the ground, takes his head under his arm and continues to fight. Seeing Celal Baba, who was fighting with them without his head, the Mongolian soldiers started to flee.
Celal Baba continues his jihad until he reaches the inside of the castle. No Mongolian soldiers remain in the fort. Celal Baba was also martyred in the place where the tomb is now located.
In 1579, Lala Mustafa Pasha, who was in Erzurum, was given the task of repairing and renovating the Kars Castle by the Sultan Murat III. Lala Mustafa Pasha had it repaired, strengthened and rebuilt the Celal Baba tomb in the castle. Unfortunately, the tomb built by Lala Mustafa Pasha is completely destroyed during the Russian occupation.
After the Russian occupation, the mausoleum, which the people called with their own means and kept open to visitors, was repaired in 2005. Today, the sign of Kahraman Celal Baba hangs at the entrance.
