Kaleiçi Antalya
Kaleici is the historical city center of Antalya, Turkey. Until modern times, almost the entire city was within its walls. It has buildings from the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman and modern Turkish Republic periods. However, most of them date to the late 18th and 19th centuries. While some of the traditional Turkish houses are occupied by their residents, many have been converted into boutique hotels, restaurants, and shops selling handicrafts and other folkloric arts. The site is undergoing extensive restoration by the municipality of Antalya.
Kaleiçi district is located in the middle-eastern part of the city, on the Mediterranean coast, in front of the marina dating to the Roman period.
Kaleiçi name (meaning the castle itself or the castle).
