Kalender Baba Tomb

There are two Seljuk type mausoleums in the old Kalenderhane Neighborhood, at the beginning of Ankara Road, in Beşyol in Konya. One of the tombs is named as Kalender Baba and the other as Kesikbaş Tomb, but these two tombs and those who lie in them are confused with each other.

Kalender Baba, who is from Tokat, is a kalenderi sheikh. This sheikh called Cavlakîde is one of the caliphs of Cemaledin Savi. Ebubekir Niksari, who was in Damascus for a while, came to Konya between 1205-1206 and settled in Konya and gathered many disciples around him and established his lodge. He is contemporary with Hazrat Mevlana. According to Ahmet Efaki's statement, it is understood that there were good relations between the Kalederis and the Mevlevis.

Konyalı speaks of a calender household, which was donated by Pir Hüseyin Bey, with a foundation charter dated 1428. This date is long after the death of Ebubekir Niksari. However, from Efâkî's statement, the kalenderhane seems to exist before Niksari's death. Although it is mentioned in some sources that Ebubekir Niksari was also executed by beheading, it is estimated that this was confused with the person lying in the other tomb.
