Kapu Mosque
Kapu Mosque, a historical mosque from the 17th century Ottoman period in Konya. It is the largest mosque among the Ottoman mosques in the city. The ownership of the mosque on Sarraflar Street in the central Karatay district belongs to the General Directorate of Foundations and is active under the Karatay Mufti Office.
The mosque got its name from the fact that it was built next to one of the entrances of Konya Castle. It was built in 1658 by Pir Hüseyin Çelebi, one of the pelmets of the Mevlevi Lodge. The mosque, which underwent its first renovation in 1811, was completely burned in a fire in 1867, along with the foundation shops around it. The mosque, which was rebuilt in 1868, has completely lost its originality.
