Karagül
Halfeti Black Rose / Halfeti Black Rose are fresh or dried roses of Rosa chinensis L. cv. Louis XIV variety grown in Halfeti district of Şanlıurfa province. Rosa chinensis cv. Louis XIV variety roses have fragrant, red to almost black, dark red flowers with varying color tones. The most important distinguishing feature of Halfeti Karagül / Halfeti Black Rose is its dark red color close to black. Halfeti Black Rose flowers are large, usually single. There is a white line in the center of the petals. This line is the distinctive feature of Halfeti Black Rose. As the flowers age, the color lightens. While Halfeti Black Rose is black in bud, its color lightens when the flower opens. The near-black color of the Halfeti Black Rose is due to the physiological response of the plant to the duration of illumination and temperature conditions at the geographical border. The calcareous soils of the region are also important for the formation of the black color. The seedlings from which Halfeti Black Rose is obtained bloom in purple, velvet and red when grown outside the geographical border.
