Karakoyunlu Koç Başlı Open Air Museum

The ram-headed tombs found in all the old cemeteries in the Iğdır Plain belong to the Karakoyunlu Period, which left a permanent mark on Iğdır with their civilization. These tombstones were erected on the graves of valiant and heroic people and those who died at a young age during the Karakoyunlu period. This tradition in the Karakoyunlu period came from the Central Asian Turkish Culture. Very few of the tombstones made of black basalt found on Mount Ararat have survived and those that have survived are taken under protection.
