Kaunos Ancient City

The ancient city of Kaunos was actually a port city, but as a result of the sea being filled with alluvium, its connection with the sea was cut off and it lost its port feature. The city was one of the most important ports of the region in terms of trade in ancient times. The city, which is now connected to the Dalyan district, draws attention with its rock tombs known as "pigeon's nest", which are estimated to be built in the 4th century BC. You can reach the ancient region, where there are various temples and theaters, by taking the boats on the banks of the Dalyan River. It is known that the city was heavily abandoned in the 1st century AD.
