Kocadere Hospital Martyrdom
The martyrdom, located in the village of Köyaltı, in the rear area of the Northern Group Front, about 1.5 km southwest of Kocadere village, was established in 1915. 25 April 1915 Behind the Arıburnu Front, a large bandage area was established by the 19th Division and the 5th Division's medical division, which fought against the Anzacs. The most common diseases among soldiers during the war are; tuberculosis, dysentery, malaria, mumps, typhoid fever, heart diseases, skin diseases, eye diseases and inflammatory diseases. However, most of the wounds seen in Turkish soldiers consisted of bombs, shrapnel and infantry bullets. Later, the field hospital of the 16th Division was located in this region. It is known that 2,000 martyrs lie in the cemetery, where the real martyrs' graves are located. The number of martyrs whose names can be determined is 1,353. The hospital martyrdom, which is marked on section 16 of the Şevki Pasha Map, was restored by the Ministry of Forestry in 2005.
