Kömürhan Bridge

The Kömürhan Bridge, constructed at the Euphrates River crossing (Karakaya Dam Lake) on the D-300 State Highway, connecting Elazığ and Malatya, and the eastern and southeastern provinces to the west, is 660 meters long.

Opened on January 2, 2021, the bridge is designed as an inverted-Y tower. With a single pylon of 168.5 meters and a central span of 380 meters, it ranks fourth in the world.

The 7,000 tons of steel used in the Kömürhan Bridge is equivalent to the amount of steel used in the Eiffel Tower. The welding length used to assemble the steel fabrications is approximately 450 km, and the cable length connecting the steel segments to the tower is 853 km.

The double-tube Kömürhan Tunnel, part of the project, is 2,400 meters long.

The Kömürhan Bridge and Tunnel was constructed using 100% domestic and national resources in its construction, design, and control, and was built entirely by Turkish engineers and workers.

The Kömürhan Bridge and Tunnel, which facilitates access to major tourism and commercial centers with fast and safe traffic flow, has shortened the existing distance by 1 km.
