Kozan Sis Castle
Kozan Castle is a historical castle located in Kozan district of Adana. Kozan Castle is an important structure with the rich history and cultural heritage of the Adana region, which has a history dating back to 3000 BC.
Kozan Castle was built in the 12th century by the Artuqid ruler Fahrettin Karaaslan. The main part of the castle, which consists of two separate parts, includes an inner castle surrounded by a 400 meter long city wall. The inner castle contains many structures such as water wells, cisterns, dungeons and kitchens. The outer castle consists of a large courtyard protected by fortifications and bastions.
Kozan Castle changed hands many times throughout its history and was used for various purposes. It was first built by the Artuqid ruler Fahrettin Karaaslan and later fell into the hands of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. During the Ottoman Empire, the castle was used as a military base. Today, Kozan Castle is a tourist attraction visited by tourists.
