Küflevi Tomb
The history of the Küflevi Tomb in Bitlis dates back to 1898, according to the inscription on the entrance door. The architect of the tomb, which was built by the Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamit, is Italian Architect Alberto. The Küfrevi Tomb, which is in a different style from the architectural structure prevailing in Bitlis in general, is likened to the Late Period tombs in Istanbul. The tomb, which was built after the death of Sheikh Muhammet Küflevi, consists of a portico with four domes extending along the north-south and the main tomb space. It is decorated with simple painting motifs on the eastern façade, where the door is located. The main decorations in the entrance were painted in random colors due to the destruction during the Russian occupation. The most striking aspect of the windows of the tomb is the stained glass used in Byzantine architecture. It is known that the Küflevi family living in Bitlis had a close relationship with the Ottoman dynasty at first and with the state in the period after the Republic. You can have more detailed information about the history of the region by including the Küflevi Tomb in your travel plan during your stay in Bitlis, which is home to many historical values.
