Kula Houses

Kula houses are wooden houses called Turkish Houses, which we encounter in almost every region under the 18th century Ottoman Empire. This period is a successful example of Ottoman Art with its rich systems such as plan, establishment and woodwork, plaster and pencil work. Kula has a typical Ottoman urban texture with the building type that continued in the 19th century.

Historical Kula houses are generally two-storied and made of wood. The upper floors protrude towards the street, and the tiled roofs end with an eaves. There are ornaments on the lower part of these eaves. The windows have wooden shutters, the interior is a whole with the courtyard or the garden and is in harmony with the daily life style.
