Kültepe Kaniş Mound
Kültepe is an ancient city and ruins in Kayseri, where the ruins of Kaniş (Kanesh) are located. It has been on the Temporary List of World Heritage Sites in Turkey since 2014. In addition, the earliest traces of the Indo-European language family have been discovered, with written finds dating to the 20th century BC, along with the earliest traces of the Hittite language. 20–21 km from Kayseri city center. In the northeast, Karaev or Karahöyük, which is connected to the center, is just south of Kültepe Village with its new name. It was included in the archeology publications under the name Kültepe because it is an ashen-colored hill with a distant view. It is known as Karahöyük in the near vicinity. It is suggested that it be named as Kültepe-Karahöyük in order not to be confused with other settlements called Karahöyük in Turkey. Today, the mound is a hill settlement 20 meters high, measuring 550 x 450 meters. The settlement has been severely damaged since the end of the 19th century.
