Kürsübaşı Reading and Culture House
Traditional Conversation Meetings are called Kürsübaşı Conversations in Elazığ. Gathering around the specially arranged lectern, which was used in the winter season in old Harput houses and served as a stove, was called "lecture chair" to warm up, chat and have fun. Today, "Kürsübaşı" is perceived as a word that expresses a certain aspect of Harput culture. The lectern is in the form of a square table made of wood with four legs and four corners, 50-60 cm high on one side, starting from 60 cm on one side and expanding up to 1.5 meters. Only the upper part of some is covered with wood and the lower part is open. Some of them have an empty place carved in a circular shape at 30-60 cm in the middle, covered on both the bottom and the top, where a barbecue is placed. Located on the upper part of the Historical Castle in Harput, this lectern house is well preserved and designed in a way that reflects the culture of that day. The house is a two-storey mansion. It is a must-see place in terms of Harput culture.
