Kütahya Geology Museum

This building, which is an old-dated building, was used as a bath before and was restored and turned into a museum. Kütahya traveler, scientist, writer and folklorist Evliya Çelebi counts this bath among the baths during his visit to Kütahya in the years (1671 -1672). After the restoration, this historical place was opened to visitors as the Geology Museum on 25.04.2008 with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the purpose of promoting and exhibiting the underground riches on a local and national scale, and has the status of a private museum under the Municipality of Kütahya.

Kütahya is an extremely rich province in terms of underground and surface resources. Of the 90 types of mines found in the world, 57 are in Turkey and 35 of them are within the borders of Kütahya. Kütahya, the province with the highest number of mining licenses; 50 percent of Turkey's boron reserves, 7.6 percent of lignite reserves, and a very important amount of ceramic raw materials (such as feldspar, quartz, kaolin) as varieties and reserves; It occupies an important place in the mining industry as it is the only place where refractory raw materials such as magnesite are produced today. In addition to these mineral resources, Kütahya is also very rich with thermal and geothermal resources.
