Macedonia Tower

Edirne Castle Macedonia Clock Tower is one of the towers at the four corners of the walls surrounding Hadrianopolis, which was founded by the Roman King Hadrian. This place (1866-1867) was called the Clock Tower after the wooden floors and clocks built by Hacı İzzet Pasha, one of the Governors of Edirne, on the tower. The clock here was also called the Nation Hour for a long time. The Macedonia Tower and its surroundings, which is the only structure that has survived from the towers of the city walls surrounding the city, was put into service as the 'Urban Archaeological Park' after the excavations.
