Mamure Castle
Mamure Castle is a historical castle stretching along the coast near the Bozdoğan neighborhood of the Anamur district of Mersin in the south of Turkey. It has also hosted Turkish cinema and Turkish TV series.
History
The castle was built by the Romans in the 3rd century to monitor the Mediterranean and Cilicia trade routes and to protect the merchant ships from pirates. The castle, which was destroyed and destroyed over time, was restored in the 12th century during the period of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
The castle was repaired in 1450 during the Karamanoğulları Principality and the castle was named Mamure (Prosperous).[5] In addition, Mahmut Bey had a mosque built in the castle between 1300-1308.
The castle passed into the hands of the Ottoman Empire in 1469. In addition, the castle was repaired in the 15th, 16th and 18th centuries. Mamure Castle is currently under restoration.
